Freediving Instructors International (FII) Level 1 Course
Level 1 course is an introduction to the FII education system. It covers everything from safety & problem management, breathing techniques, & equipment selection to correct freediving methods for gradual depth progression. This course is ideal for anyone wishing to master the correct basic freediving techniques of our system enabling you to confidently freedive to depths up to 66 feet/20 meters.

As a F.I.I. Level 1 Freediver you will use the following equipment:
Certification Level: Level 1 Freediver. Students are not required to dive the maximum depth of the course for certification. FII certification tests are based on the skills and knowledge you will master throughout your course.
Freediving Instructors International (FII) Level 1 Course (Pool Only)
Level 1 Freediver Course The Level 1 "Pool Only" course is is comprised of the lecture and pool portions of the full Level 1 course. Essentially, its the exact same course minus the open water dive session. This course is ideal for anyone wishing to master the correct basic freediving techniques of our system but are not ready to make dive in deep water.

Upon successfully finishing the "Pool Only" course. The student has one year from the date of the course to participate in the open water session of a full level 1 course. Student will have to pay for the quarry portion of the course.

- Wetsuit (5mm freediving suit recommended for conditions in the Washington DC area)
- Weights
- Weightbelt

- Wetsuit (2-3mm suit or shorty is fine for the pool)
- Weights (1-3 lbs should suffice for the pool)
- Weightbelt
- Fins
- Timing device (e.g., waterproof watch with timer)

Practice Sessions
Level 1 Freediver Practice Session (Depth Training).
The Level 1 Freediver Practice Session is an opportunity for FII Level 1 graduates to practice and improve their skills under the watchful eye of a certified FII instructor. The practice session is 1.5 hours long and takes place in deep water (Quarry, Lake, or Ocean). The primary focus will be on Level 1 techniques. Diving rig with multiple dive lines will be available for students to practice dives to the Level 1 depth limit of 20 meters/66 feet.
As a F.I.I. Level 1 Freediver practice session participant, you will need the following equipment:
The Level 1 Freediver Practice Session is an opportunity for FII Level 1 graduates to practice and improve their skills under the watchful eye of a certified FII instructor. The practice session is 1.5 hours long and takes place in deep water (Quarry, Lake, or Ocean). The primary focus will be on Level 1 techniques. The Level 1 Freediver Practice Session is an opportunity for FII Level 1 graduates to practice and improve their skills under the watchful eye of a certified FII instructor. The practice session is 1 hour long. This is an opportunity to fine tune your surface entries as well as have a structured workout to help you condition your physiology and dive with increased safety and efficiency.
